The following students will present scholarly research at the University of Mount Union's sixth annual Student Celebration Honoring Our Latest Academic Research (SCHOLAR Day) on Tuesday, April 23.

Miami University's forensics team won the national championship for the third year at the 31st. annual Novice National Tournament, reserved for first year competitors. Twenty-four Miami students bested 17 other schools, including the University of Alabama, the University of Florida and Louisiana State University. Local students top results are:

Miami University students who are ranked in the top three percent of undergraduate students within each division for first semester 2012-13 have been named to the president's list recognizing academic excellence.

Miami University students who ranked in the top 20 percent of undergraduate students within each division for first semester 2012-2013 have been named to the dean's list recognizing academic performance.

Miami University awarded 934 degrees to students during fall commencement exercises Friday, Dec. 14, 2011, in Millett Hall. The Miami University forensics team finished first overall at the competition held in February at Marietta College. Miami was crowned champion of the debate division as well as the individual events division, claiming 34 of the 78 awards offered at the tournament. Additionally, the team had members advance to the finals of every event offered. The team won first place in dramatic interpretation, prose interpretation, extemporaneous speaking, Lincoln-Douglas debate and parliamentary debate.
